Student Pass Application
At Kindle Kids International School (KKIS), we welcome students throughout the academic year and frequently receive inquiries from international families about their child’s eligibility to study in Singapore and the process of applying for a Student Pass.
Applying for a Student’s Pass in Singapore involves several steps. Please note that the process may change, so it is advisable to check the official Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) official website for the latest information: ICA Student Pass Application.
A Student Pass is a government-issued document that allows international students to study full-time in Singapore.
Your child will need a Student Pass if they are:
- Studying long-term (more than 30 days)
- Not a permanent resident
- Not holding a Dependent’s Pass (DP) or Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)
Parents have the option to apply for a Student Pass for their child who holds a DP or LTVP. Kindly approach our Admissions Team for advice.
At KKIS, our admissions team will assist students who need to apply for a Student Pass through ICA. This support includes:
- Initiating the ICA application
- Providing guidance on the application process
- Verifying the student’s enrollment and immigration status
The application process for a Student Pass will begin once your child is formally accepted at KKIS. Please note that Student Passes are not transferable and will be cancelled if the student is no longer enrolled at KKIS.
- Receive an Offer Letter from KKIS
- The KKIS Admissions Team will register the Student’s Pass application through ICA’s SOLAR+ Portal. This is typically done 2-3 months before the start of the school term. You do not need to be in Singapore to apply for a Student Pass.
- Prepare the required documents which may include:
- Passport biodata page
- Child’s personal details
- Parents’ personal information including proof of financial means
- Residential address
- Email address
- Recent passport-sized, digital, colour photograph taken within the last three months
- Vaccination records (children aged 12 or below are required to submit vaccination details to the Health Promotion Board). For more details, visit HPB Vaccination Verification
- Submit the application through the SOLAR+, ensuring that all documents are uploaded accurately. The system will guide you through the steps.
- Pay the non-refundable Student’s Pass application fee online.
- Await the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter which outlines the conditions for obtaining the Student’s Pass. Processing time is typically 1-2 weeks but may take up to 8 weeks.
- If approved, you will receive the IPA letter. After arriving in Singapore, schedule an appointment with ICA to complete the Student Pass issuance process. Visit ICA Appointment to book an appointment for the collection of the Digital Student Pass at the ICA Building.
- Older students may be required to undergo a medical examination.
Important Notes:
Physical Student Pass cards are no longer issued. Holders with a SingPass account can view their digital card through the SingPass app. Students without a SingPass account will receive a link to download a PDF version of their digital Student Pass.
To ensure a smooth process, we recommend starting the application early to allow sufficient time for processing. Always check the ICA website for updates on the application procedures.
