In the two-year IGCSE programme Classes IX and X students study a range of subjects that are exciting and challenging. It helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem-solving. The holistic and experiential nature of learning balances knowledge, understanding and skills, and ensures that students are well-prepared for the A/ AS LEVEL, IB Diploma and other pre-university programmes.

In Class VIII, which is a preparatory year, students study academic subjects that prepare them for the IGCSE programme, ranging from First Language English, Second Languages   like Hindi, Tamil or French, Sciences and Mathematics, along with optional subjects like Art, Computer Studies, Physical Education and Global Perspectives.

This is complemented by inter-disciplinary projects in Class VIII, to develop critical thinking and research skills. Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course   and can include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment.  Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognized grades, A* to G, which have clear guidelines to   explain the standard of achievement for each grade.

Cambridge IGCSE examination sessions occur twice a year, in June and November. Results are issued in August and January.

The objective of this course is to prepare students for the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations, giving them a better understanding and overview of the Cambridge IGCSE Examinations academic subjects comprising of English, Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics and more.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Academic Level: Completion of  Cambridge IGCSE Upper Secondary (Grade 9) or High School or equivalent qualifications

Age: at least 14 years old

Language Proficiency: A pass in English at Cambridge IGCSE Upper Secondary (Grade 9) or a pass mark in KKIS English Aptitude test

Monday to Friday : 9.20 am to 12.20 pm and 1.00 pm to 3.15 pm

Contact Hours Per Week : 1100 (5.0 days x 5.5 hours)

Assessment Methods  :

Internal: Quarterly Tests and Year-End Examinations for all subjects, except Art and Physical Education

External: Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Test (optional)

Assessment Grading Criteria :

Internal: Quarterly Tests, Year-End Examinations and Quarterly Assignments are marked according to Kindle Kids International School’ standard grading criteria

External: The Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint Test (optional) is set and marked by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE).
